Projects Built With Purpose

Each project reflects a commitment to structural integrity, informed decision-making, and direct builder oversight. These studies highlight the scope, challenges, and execution behind some of our most detailed residential builds.

Nottingham Patuckaway Lakefront Addition

Lakefront Home Addition  |  Nottingham, NH

Scope: Master Suite, Kitchen, Entry, Stairwell, Walkout Basement, Wraparound Deck
Ceiling Height: 16' Vaulted Ridgeline
Home Occupied During Construction: Yes

  • After selling their primary home in Brentwood, the homeowners chose to transform their 1200 sq ft lakefront camp into a full-time residence for their family of five, including three teenage daughters.

The goal was to create a modern, functional layout while preserving the character and charm of the original camp. The addition needed to feel intentional, cohesive, and designed for long-term living.

  • The homeowners were already working with an architect and had secured shoreland permits prior to our involvement. From that point forward, we became deeply integrated into the design and execution process.

Stone Post worked alongside the architect and brought in a structural engineer to ensure the 16-foot vaulted ceilings met appropriate structural limits.

We remained onsite for every design consultation from start to finish, coordinating directly with the architect, kitchen designer, bath designer, and fixture selections to ensure every decision aligned with the homeowner’s goals.

Cleanliness and dust mitigation were prioritized from the beginning, especially when connecting the existing structure to the new addition. Clear communication remained constant throughout every phase of construction so the family always understood timelines, next steps, and how challenges were being addressed.

Raymond Farmhouse Kitchen Renovation

Historic Kitchen & Dining Renovation | Raymond, NH

Scope: Full Structural Floor Reframing, Window Additions, Cabinetry, Custom Woodwork
Home Occupied During Construction: Yes

  • This Civil War–era farmhouse had character, history, and architectural presence. What it lacked was natural light, functional layout, and the ability to comfortably host the large family gatherings the homeowners regularly enjoyed.

The goal was to create a modern, highly functional kitchen while preserving the period-appropriate feel of the home. Entertaining was central to the design. A separate buffet area was prioritized to allow guests to gather without interfering with the working kitchen.

More light. Better flow. Timeless character.

  • Because the kitchen and dining area served as the only passage between the main house and attached garage, dust mitigation and site safety were critical from day one. Throughout every phase of construction, the space had to remain safe and accessible for daily foot traffic.

Stone Post managed the renovation with flexibility and precision. As design refinements emerged, additional windows and doors were incorporated, cabinetry layouts were adjusted, and a custom barnboard wood ceiling was added to elevate the aesthetic.

Every adjustment was coordinated directly with the homeowner to ensure the finished space balanced function, period authenticity, and visual cohesion.

  • This project required significant structural and design coordination:

    • Multiple layers of historic flooring were discovered, including 2-inch-thick stone and concrete
    • The entire kitchen floor had to be removed, reframed, and leveled, correcting more than 2 inches of variation across the space
    • The home remained occupied, requiring a temporary coffee station and continued refrigerator access
    • Multiple wood species were integrated, including a hickory island, hand-scraped flooring, and red pine ceilings
    • The renovation required blending modern performance standards with a historically appropriate aesthetic

Each phase demanded precision and direct oversight to preserve the integrity of the home while modernizing its functionality.

  • The completed kitchen delivers natural light, expanded counter space, and a layout designed for entertaining. The large rear window overlooks the pool area, transforming what was once a dark space into a bright, welcoming gathering hub.

Exterior walls were reinsulated for improved energy efficiency, and window replacements enhanced both performance and aesthetics.

The final design balances modern amenities with farmhouse authenticity, creating seamless transitions between old and new while respecting the character of the original structure.
